Billy is an app for keeping your bills, invoices, receipts and travel documents, made by Artya Softwares ("we"). This policy explains what Billy collects, why, where it is kept, who else handles it, and how you can delete it.
What Billy collects
- Your account. When you sign in with Apple or Google we receive an account identifier and, if you share them, your email address and name. Billy has no passwords of its own.
- Your bills. The files you add (photos and PDFs) and the details read from them: merchant, dates, amounts, taxes, items, warranty periods and, for travel documents, the trip details. Also the folders you create and any changes you make.
- App and usage information. The app's version and platform, when you last used it, how many bills you process each day, and technical logs of requests (for example errors and response times) that help us keep Billy running.
Billy does not use advertising, does not track you across other apps or websites, and has no third-party analytics or advertising code in the app.
How your bills are read
Billy reads bills with an AI model, only after you agree to it when you first sign in. You can turn this off at any time in Settings; your bills are then saved without being read, and you can enter the details yourself.
When a bill is read, the file and a short instruction are sent to an AI model provider through OpenRouter. The models we use are made by Anthropic. The file is sent only to read that bill, and the answer comes back to Billy. Your phone's region may be sent with it to help read dates and currencies.
Where your data is kept
Your account, bills and their details are stored in Microsoft Azure in the Central India region, encrypted at rest, and only reachable through Billy. The app also keeps a copy of your bills on your phone so you can see them offline. Bills you upload are private to your account.
Who else handles it
- Microsoft Azure hosts Billy's servers, database and file storage.
- OpenRouter and Anthropic process a bill's file to read it, when AI reading is on.
- Apple and Google handle sign-in when you choose them.
We don't sell your data or share it with anyone else, except where the law requires it.
Who at Artya Softwares can see it
Support staff can look up an account to help with a problem you report or to keep the service safe, for example to unblock an account or re-read a bill. Opening one of your files needs a stated reason. Every such look is recorded in an audit log.
How long it is kept, and deleting it
Your bills are kept until you delete them or your account. You can delete a bill in the app at any time. You can delete your account in Settings → Delete account: that removes your account, all your bills, their details and their files from our servers straight away. Technical logs are kept for up to 30 days.
To stop using AI reading without deleting anything, turn it off in Settings.
Children
Billy is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Your rights
You can see, correct and delete your data in the app. For anything else, such as a copy of your data or a question about this policy, contact us at the address below. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under local law, and we'll honour them.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update this page and the date above, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
